About Me

Myriam Berger

Having studied history and sociology at the University of Zurich in Switzerland my career path seemed clear: I wanted to and went on to work as a journalist.
At the age of 31, however, I had an encounter which ultimately made me change professional direction: I went to see a therapist who had been recommended to me. I had never heard of Polarity Therapy before, nor did I understand what he was doing, but I did walk out of that first session feeling better than I had in a very long time.

I was intrigued. I wanted to know more about this energy-based holistic approach. It was like entering a new universe; a journey away from the head and back to myself.

Polarity offered me the possibility to combine both my passions: working with people and working with my hands. One thing led to another, so

    • from 2001–2004 I trained as a Polarity Therapist at the Polarity Zentrum in Zurich, Switzerland.
    • Then I took the jump and became self-employed. I opened my own practice in Zurich where I worked from 2005–2010. That included two days a week working in companies treating the various ailments and tensions of employees. They in turn sent me family members and friends to work on.
    • In 2006–2009 I trained in Somatic Experience (SE), a body-based approach for dealing with and treating trauma.

    • And finally, in 2018, I became a Reiki Master (Colchester).

I moved to the UK in 2010 to be with my now husband whom I had met while working in Zurich. I now live and work in Long Melford, and have a big garden and an allotment, where I spend much of my free time.

I speak English, French and German, and have professional indemnity insurance.
